W. H. Chong is a book designer based in Melbourne, Australia. He is Design Director at Text Publishing.
Chong is a founding member of ABDA (Australian Book Designers Association). He was inducted into the Australian Book Designers Hall of Fame in 2013.
His blog for Crikey is called Culture Mulcher and he writes on visual art and culture for Daily Review. His drawings of authors can be seen at Wheeler Centre Sketchbook. Chong's near life-size portrait of the novelist Michelle de Kretser is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra.
Chong has talked on book design on radio and at literary festivals. He spoke recently about book covers on ABC iView.
